Tippity Details

Tippity makes it easy to quickly scan your check (or enter the details), decide on a tip percentage and calculate the total. You can also split the check amongst a group of diners and calculate how much each person owes. When you travel, Tippity will show you approximately how much the meal cost in your home currency.
Here's how to use Tippity:
General
Enter the amount of your check, by moving the revolving numbers in green.
Next, select the percentage of the check that you would like to leave as a tip from the options offered.
The app will then calculate the amount of the tip, as well as the total amount, which will include the tip. In the United States, the app will also offer you the opportunity to enter an amount for taxes (sales tax and / or other additional fees shown on your check). This allows you to calculate the tip from the sub-total amount, prior to adding in the taxes. This is the usual way of calculating the tip, since it reflects the actual amount of the food and drink on the check. This is also the method that most restaurants will use to calculate the tip when they offer you tipping options on your check.
If you would prefer to tip on the total amount, which includes the taxes, simply enter that full amount on the green wheels and leave the tip amount at zero.
Outside of the United States, you will only be able to enter the total amount.
The Clear button will reset all of the parameters back to zero.
Rounding Up
(Premium Only)
If your total amount is not a rounded number, the app will offer you a Round Up button.
This will round up the total to the next full rounded amount (eg. The next full Dollar, Euro etc).
The app will do this by increasing the tip amount to achieve the rounding. For smaller check amounts, this round up may increase the percentage of the tip. The app will show what the actual final tip percentage is after the round up.

Splitting Checks
(Premium Only)
If you would like to split the check with fellow diners, once you have your final amount calculated, hit the green Split Check button towards the bottom of the screen.
This will open a new screen, where you can tell the app how many folks you would like to split the check between.
Change the number of people by pressing the – or + signs. The app will then show the total amounts on the left and the amount that each diner owes on the right.
If one person pays the entire check, you can send a text to the other diners to let them know how much to reimburse the person who paid. To do so, press the green Text Fellow Diners button. This will open Messages with a prefilled message. Simply enter the details of your fellow diners in the To: bar at the top and then send the text. You can also edit the message in the body of the text, if you would like to, before sending.

Scanning
If your phone and iOS version allow it, you can also scan the amounts from the check directly into the app. You will know that your phone is capable if you see the green Scan Check button towards the top on the left of the screen.
Press the button and the app will open the scanner screen.
Scan the total amount (in the United States, scan the amounts of the sub-total, tax and total together) by moving the view close over them and, when you see the value/s highlighted, tap within the highlighted box around the number/s to read the values.
Only tap the box around the number/s.
For example, suppose your check looks like this:

You need to move in towards the number stack that shows the values for sub-total, tax and total. Once you have them in the box and hold the phone steady, they will be highlighted in green. Now tap the green box to capture the values. The box would look like this:

The app will then automatically extract the check amount and calculate the tip and total, based on your choice of tip percentage.
In the United States, the app will extract the sub-total and calculate the tip amount from that. It will also extract the taxes and automatically populate these in calculating the total, making the process much simpler.
The scanner can be sensitive to bright light and to the paper not being flat on the table. Try to scan in a darker environment. Also, ensure that Lens Correction and Show Detected Text are enabled in your phone's camera settings (Settings -> Camera). It can take a little practice, but it mostly does work.
If scanning does not work in a specific situation, you can revert to manually entry.
Traveling
When you travel outside of your home country, the app will automatically detect the country that you are visiting and display the local currency symbol. Additionally, it is able to automatically provide exchange rates and conversions of the amounts in your check back to your home currency. This capability is available if both your home country and the country that you are visiting are both in the following list:
Australia, Bulgaria, Brazil, Canada, China, Czechia, Denmark, The Euro Zone, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, The United Kingdom and The United States.
